A digital misfit

I am not a number I am a free man

Today I became officially between jobs – my last day was…interesting.

I just went in to pick up some odd bits and pieces. As I was leaving at 5:30, someone pulled me aside and suggested that I should stay around for a meeting with some members of the board at 6. So, I ended up leaving the office around 9pm, still, it was worth it. The meeting was incredible. I can’t divulge any details, but let me just say that I’m glad to be out of there.

Book review: Travels in Dreamland – Phil Patton

This is the first in a series of brief, random and intermittent book reviews…

Travels in Dreamland is a peculiar book about Area 51 and its relation to the UFO watching community in America. It describes the birth of the skunkworks, a fascinating and extremely intense lab/research department. There is also a lot of discussion about the community of UFO watchers that has built up around the base – these people come over as paranoid, though I suspect thats not the intention of the author.

An interesting book if you’re into UFOs and US military aircraft research, probably rather long-winded if you’re not.

A Final Intrusion

…for the moment at least.

A good night, and I got to dress up properly ‘cos I’ve given up going to work now and don’t need to be besuited.

Quite a technoish set today, but there was enough of a break for NMAs “I love the world” – a stompy dancable track, but still prefer “Poison Street” or “Master Race” or “Drag it down”…maybe one day I’ll find a club that plays that sort of stuff more.

Ran around capturing pictures of everyone before I disappear, then managed to mislay my camera on the way home (I think I know who has it, but its too late to text or call now…tomorrow)

I’ve been getting into the spirit of it all today, meeting up with evilmandykins for a whirlwind tour of some of the available books and technology. Randomly bumped into godgirl on the way around.

We finished the evening off with a trip to Wagamama, where I managed to successfully reassure myself that I can actually eat some Japanese food.

What should my new company be called? Candidates so far are:

  • Florescent Ltd
  • S&M Telecoms Ltd
  • Spacelinks Aviation Ltd
  • Cybergenic Engineering Ltd

I think I like Florescent best of those…
