    • Well, I wasn’t until then, what is section 660?

IR35 isn’t going to have too much of an impact…partly I’m
outside the UK so can’t really be considered as if I should
be paying NI in the country, partly I’ve gotten a more IR35
      friendly contract.

      • section 660 is targetted at contractor + SO type companies, where one adds ones SO or family member etc as eg company secretary and disburse dividends to them. proposed section is to declare that as tax avoidance & so tax the disbursement as if it was income to the primary (/only) “worker” in the company. shout99 website has more info on it.

said greg, wondering if he can have back the 1K that he got his company to donate to the “fight the IR35” legal campaign (which we unfortunatly lost :(, back when he was in the PCG…

  1. It is…

I take it you need to set up your own company, and can’t jut run things through some kind of umbrella company?

    • I’d rather run it through my own company – I’ve some other plans for
the future and would like a vehicle for them, having a company all
my own would give me the flexibility to exploit those possibilities.

      • Fair enough. Though if you wanted to run things through a very flexible (semi-) umbrella company, I could point you in the right directions…

From what I understand, you, as acompany director (or your Dad – whoever) can sidestep IR35 by taking professional advice stating that you fall outside of it. That’s according to a PCG member who has been a hardcore supporter of the campaign against it.

Me, I paid for a couple of years until all the fuss died down and it became clear the threat was over-rated. Now I’m back to dividends. Tax still sucks without all this NI nonsense… :-(
