Oh, and while I’m updating…can anyone out there help me explain polyamory to a Japanese person? I assume its not prevalent in society here in quite the same way as it is in England, though there is the concept of ‘the dinner guy’, ‘the pick me up and take me home at the end of the evening guy’, etc, where one young lady would potentially have a number of male friends she’d frequently call upon for some specific
service. Maybe thats kinda the same sort of thing?

Oh dear, a whole load of catching up to do and not really enough sleep to see me though…seems to be the way of things over here this time.
Thursday saw a trip to the photography museum in Ebisu, where there was an exhibit of works by australian artists. This turned out to be more art exhibit than photograph exhibit, with eight or nine artists each contributing a series of pictures. They were mostly staged pieces, which didn’t really do much for me. But a couple of the series were excellent, enough to make it worthwhile. I don’t think I can really do them justice here, though.
After the museum we headed up to the Top of Yebisu, with a great view north toward Shinjuku, we found a restaurant facing south, looking out over toward the bay, though we were too late to reserve any of the window seats.
Friday night was Alamode at Head Power, Shinjuku. We spent ages waiting for the venue to open and for Damian to show up, useless boy had followed my directions to the letter, of course I meant the next road over….
Again there were a few bands and shows on, the first of which was Euthanasie, who started out being a dirgy industrial band but redeemed themselves after a couple of songs by breaking out the 80s synths and throwing away their facade of seriousness.
Later were Princess Pudding (with a free flower) and a jester with a face on his knee, who didn’t make any sense to me.
I was being disturbed by some of the lolitas there, all dressed alike in their babydoll dresses with glow-in-the-dark petticoats, though I think the salariman lolita was the most worrying.
Saturday wasn’t much in the way of a day, waking up at 6pm doesn’t leave a lot of time to do anything.
Today I went to Akihabara where I bought a package of random electronics for 1000yen (5 pounds), when I got it unwrapped I discovered its a 2.5inch hard disk caddy, with USB<->IDE adaptor (is the 36way half pitch a standard IDE socket?).
Then, just as I was getting home, I ran into Jamie, Zara and Josh in the park by Hiroo station, so we took a wander around the park, where Josh played with dogs and fountains.
I’ll be missing this party…hope another can be found at some point in the future…

“The lifeblood of a resurgent London music scene, guerrilla gigs came to prominence when one of the capital’s hottest new acts, The Others, last month commandeered two London Underground carriages to perform an impromptu set for 200 fans.”
I know there are some writers (and would-be writers) among the readers of these words – you guys should take a look at the library of unwritten books
Gah! My body clock really is quite broken – I’ve just woken up at 4am, thats it, I’m up now, no going back to sleep for me.
So, I was thinking about relationships, there seems to be a huge number of polyamorous people around these days and I wondered how it actually worked out for people. For me it’ll never work, lets face it I find it difficult to hold down a single relationship, but what about everybody else?

We never did get around to organising Cold War Night, did we?[0] They’re remaking the Manchurian Candidate. Maybe we’d better wait for that…?
[0] This statement, of course, assumes that people in Oxford haven’t managed to organise such a night in my absence.
