A digital misfit

Back to life

For various reasons I’ve not been updating here very much lately. Perhaps I should try to pick up the habit again, since I’m quite useless at keeping in touch in other ways too. Oh well.

Tonight I attended the Mobile Monday Mobile Marketing event at the Science Tower here in Kista. It is rather depressing that very little seems to have changed since the glorious days of Mobizines. There’s still people talking about how SMS marketing is going to save the world, and how mobile web will overcome WAPathy.

Depressingly the speaker from that dinosaur, Ericsson, was the most cogent while those from the bright young startups appeared stuck regurgitating pre-bubble hubris. How did we let this happen?

    Mobizines

    Hi Neil,

You mentioned Mobizines. Any idea how are they doing these days?

    Thanks,

I’m not keeping very good touch with the Refresh Mobile mob – we parted ways when they took their new direction toward Mippin and no longer had need of my Symbian programming services.

From what I can work out they now at least have a sustainable business model, to survive until some mobile marketing awareness comes to the mainstream, when they have a lot of potential.
