Wow, its taken me all evening to repair my CPAN setup to the point where I can bring it up to date. Howcome these things rot so badly so quickly – its only been a few months since I ran a days worth of updates on it….all I wanted to do was some simple proxy prototyping and I’ve spent all evening faffing, the moment is lost now.

      And its gonna get something that’ll feel pretty much the same if it carries on telling me that its making its own makefiles then failing to figure out that it just made those things and telling me to upgrade them again.

      I should just cut to the chase and implement the damn proxy without updating any more, but I’ve started now…

          Yeah, that’ll do the job when you’ve got decent package management. I’m running in cygwin though, which is alright as far as it goes (and far far better than anything windows gives you) but realistically you gotta do it manually if you want it done vaguely properly.
