A digital misfit

I’ve just received my election communication from Jim Paice, my Conservative candidate. Four out of five ‘stories’ in the communication start:

“Under Labour violent crime has risen….”
“Labours bulldozers threaten…”
“Labour has forced up council tax bills…”
“Labour has failed on A14…”

The fifth is a story about how Labour support travellers in their fight against eviction.

Now, maybe I’m missing the point here but this seems to me to be a call to “vote for me, ‘cos we’re not as bad as them”. There is no mention of what he believes, hardly any mention of conservative policies, and those that are mentioned are certainly not things that in any sense appeal to me.

Please, all potential politicians, I want good stuff from you, not reports of how bad the other lot are.

    Hi Jim,

I’ve just received your recent communication. I’m a little depressed about its contents – it seems that politics in this country has fallen into name calling and finger pointing. I would like some more information about what you and the Conservatives can do for me, not information about what Labour have done wrong for the last few years.

This is an entry I made on my blog – it can be found here http://www.livejournal.com/users/neilh/220102.html

I would appreciate your comments on this view of politics, and any thoughts on how the political system could be improved such that it doesn’t alienate people like me.

    With thanks.

  2. but if we live in a corporate world, thay I suppose it is only logical that the blame culture of corporates should spread outwards to.

    • Not all corporates have a blame culture. Indeed, those that don’t tend to do better, until they employ managers from places that do when the whole thing falls apart.
