A digital misfit

Looks like I’ve found a way to trigger Barclaycards fraud detection mechanism – make lots of small transactions in very disperate places in a short space of time – preferably in another country too, if you can.

    • They phoned up and left a message that said “Can you call the fraud detection unit as soon as possible”…which is no way to put anyone at ease. It would, also, explain why my cards weren’t working in Germany.

  1. Works for Tesco Visa the minute I go anywhere on holiday. Which usually leaves me in a developing country with no means of getting cash or paying for stuff.

I have learned to take at least two cards on holiday.

  2. That would make a lot of sense. Another would be a large sum at once. I received a phone call from NatWest when I had ordered my camera kit and accessories, which came to a bit over a grand.

  3. I was Barclaycard fraud detection for a while! We had to look for all sorts of things. Rapid spending after a card has only been used infrequently is the most common sign…
