I’ve just noticed trying to type ‘Vauxhall’ into the predictive text on my phone gives ‘tat?’, maybe I should ask my phone what car I should buy next? Does anyone else use their predictive text to predict other aspects of their life?

My phone comes up with ‘sub’, ‘rub’, and ‘pvc’ before it gets to ‘pub’- haven’t actually used this to predict anything, but I’d be intriged to know how it prioritises matching words in it’s dictionary to possible typed combinations, and whether all Nokias do that or it’s just that mine has a uniquely dirty mind…

  I guess it might be a Finnish thing…? Someone else was commenting on their Nokia doing the same, could be worse, try teaching it ‘Mahjong’…

I don’t use predictive text as half the texts I write are in German…

  Can you switch to the german dictionary? …I guess you need both, really, but then that all gets confusing, doesn’t it?

    I think I can only switch the menu language of the phone (which will change the dic), not the dic on its own. It’s a Nokia 3210.
    
    I’ve tried using predictive text but I found I’m quicker without as I don’t have to deal with stupid suggestions.

A few classics. Typing “Dave” in gives “Date” initially. I feel more of the girls I met as an undergrad should have allowed their mobiles to influence their decisions ;)
