  2. Indeed, it speaks so much sense about road design. Theres a zebra crossing I use on my way to work every day which is an accident waiting to happen, people are concentrating so hard on reading the signs and slowing down for the bump in the road they are completely oblivious to the fact that the *reason* theres a bump in the road is that people are trying to cross there. Its got to the point now (after I accidentally caused a couple of emergency stops, including one 20foot icy skid from a guy doing 40 around the corner finding me just stepping onto the crossing) that I don’t even consider stepping into the road until the person in the next car has stopped and waved me across.

    But I can’t help wondering if just changing things makes things safer for a while, until everyone is used to it again.
