  Second weekend of october, I think…though it looks like theres two other parties going on that day, so I might end up doing a frantic drive across the country-stay up all night-drive home thing again, just hope the caffeine still works by then.

Nothing to do with Betamax per se, but the legality of copying technologies. Unfortunately the article isn’t very clear about exactly how the proposed new US legislation would undermine the Betamax ruling.

  Yes – I missed this entirely initially, assuming it was something to do with the Betamax format and preserving old recordings. It was only later that I idly clicked on the link and found that it’s really about legislation concerning all home recording media. I think the campaign to save “Betamax” may have shot themselves in the foot by choosing such a misleading slogan.
