  Sure, everything is monitored, I think the problem I have is the implicit accusation that “We’re monitoring you because we don’t trust you to behave”, sadly the more they monitor in the west the less ‘free’ we become, since we can no longer talk about certain things in the ways that are monitored. And since we don’t know what is monitored we have to be more careful and not talk on channels that *might* be monitored.
  
  The problem is, I guess, hypocrisy, we spend a lot of time and political effort ‘bombing’ freedom into the peoples we don’t like and then we censor our own people.
  
  Don’t pretend we are free in the west. We are not.
