“The nTAG is something you hang round your neck like a conference badge. The devices talk to each other by infrared and are connected to a central server via radio.”

Another wearable computing device destined for the dustbin when the only people wearing them realise that the only other people wearing them are just like themselves.

  1. There was something very similar to this (except it looked far less geeky and used RF to communicate, so you didn’t need to have it on show) on sale in Japan several years ago. Sadly the name of it escapes me. It failed when users realised that the ratio of male to female users was of the order of 100:1.

  2. I know enough kanji to know this one says something about girlfriend and wanted, but more importantly I suspect it doesn’t matter anyway – there are people wandering around with tshirts that say “Cold water inside” (in English) – I can just be a stupid gaijin and wear a shirt that demonstrates it without knocking my credibility one bit.
