Back to work yesterday (or was it today? I’m still too jetlagged to work that out) to find that practically speaking nothing has happened since I left. Oh well.

    It was great to meet you at Whitby. I’m sorry I wasn’t more talkative, friendly, amiable, and generally with it. Hopefully I won’t be disgustingly ill next time I go. But yes… it was good to meet you and I hope it happens again sometime.

      Yes, it was all-too-brief, Whitby is difficult for anything other than those kinds of fleeting conversations. Oh well, doubtless we’ll be able to catch up better at some point….I’ll be doing a bit more travelling around next year so maybe get a chance to pop in then, or, of course, let me know if you’re passing Tokyo…

      I suspect it might have more to do with my boss being away for one of the two weeks too. But tensions are running high now since the project manager is starting to make ridiculous demands to ‘derisk’ the future releases. Worse still, I’m too jetlagged and grouchy at the moment to calm these things down so they just seem to be spiralling out of control.

      Yes, it was good to see you too, we’ll have to arrange it better next time though…you up for a quick hand of Munchkin or Fluxx or somesuch? Got any pictures of you in that gorgeous tailcoat yet?

        But surely with all that interesting Eastern philosophy sloshing about, no one ever gets stressed or makes ridiculous demands ? I hope the jetlag eases soon, anyway.

        I’ve never played Munchkin (though I’m generically willing to), Fluxx I’m very fond of and am always up for a game. Tailcoat hasn’t yet been worn in anger, I’ll let you know if there are any pictures fit for human consumption when it is :)

          I suspect the eastern philosophy is part of the problem, ‘cos someone took our “It’ll be done next week” as an honourable pledge and passed it on up the management tree, now they’re expecting the honourable thing. Except we’re all gaijins so when we said next week we meant “the earliest it is likely to happen, with a following wind is the week after next”.

          We’ll get you in for the next round of Munchkin then. Will try to remember to bring Grass next time too, which is always good for a giggle.
