For todays lunch I had some cheese rolls with the inspiring slogan:

“Keep Yamazakis Table Rolls ready in your bread basket. Serve it at berakfast, brunch, or dinner. So you can express your thoughtfulness through our Table Rolls.”

    • I was curious as to how I would go about it, but I thought I better not in an office half full of Japanese people for whom the slogan is probably quite normal.

My first thought was to dig a hole through the centre and then hold it up to my mouth like a big bready orange beard but I don’t think that was going to work. Then I considered writing on it, but I don’t think that plan was going anywhere either. Maybe I’ll just wait until they go mouldy and send them to Margret Thatcher (or whoever the hell is prime minister these days?).

  1. you gotta admit it cheers you up and is kind of serenely “zen” though..

which is more than you get with your average roll!

all hail the yamazaki table roll!

  2. Re: Prime minister

The English prime minister, I don’t have any thoughtfulness to express to the Japanese head of state, and I doubt he’d listen anyway what with me being one of them damned gaijins and all. John Major at least might wonder why someone had gone to the effort of sending some mouldy, but thoughtful, cheese rolls halfway around the world.
