Stupid question: Where did “Fasten your seatbelt Dorothy, we’re going for a ride” come from?

  1. Where are you quoting it from?

I’ve never heard it before, but it sounds like some kinda amalgamation of lines from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Twister’.

    • I thought it was a line in the Matrix, but I heard in something that predated that and I couldn’t remember what – its just one of those things thats bugging me.

  2. there’s also the quote “fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night” (bette davis, “all about eve”).
so maybe it’s a mix of a bunch of quotes?

    • It might be that my head has broken it in translation somewhere…but I’m reasonably sure it was “Fasten your seatbelt Dorothy…”, which I remember noticing as being like the phrase in the Matrix while watching something else.

  3. Re: Variation

To be fair the crash helmets, airbags, fireproof clothing and quick release seatbelts are merely a precaution, I’ve not yet used them in anger. Which just means I’m not pushing the performance envelope.
