A digital misfit

EPOC client

Work starts on the EPOC client. Its all looking good so far – the protocol is trivial, the UI complexity minimal, the wiring the hold the whole thing together shouldn’t take more than another couple of clear days…but I should probably go to the office tomorrow so not much will happen ’til the end of the week.

  1. Is EPOC alive and well in any new products – I’ve not been following Psion since the Symbian thing.

I still use my Psion 3MX even though Sam brought me a Tungsten-T to use…

    • EPOC is very much alive and well – Nokias series 60 phone UI is based on it. So it is becoming available in a bunch of phones from many suppliers now. I’ve got an EPOC phone, a 7650, one with some of my software in the ROM, thats a nice feeling. They’ve kinda lost touch with the PDA market, but that is a small market so who can blame them.

btw, Psion have just taken on a new leader, so there might be some more excitement going on over there rsn.
