A digital misfit

Not sure whether to find this disturbing or not… but Ive not found any kind of nightlife yet, or even any like-minded people (yeah, yeah, I know, fat chance!). I did see a punk on the train earlier, but shed run off before I could pluck up courage to talk to her, not that shed […]
A trip to the burbs
Todays excitement was a trek out to the suburbs, I picked the line leading outward from Meguro (where my office is) and went to the end of that. My original intention was to find somewhere I wouldnt mind living, but I suspect that it doesnt really matter where I live, as long as its not […]
On the nature of virtue…
…or not. Maybe I shouldnt read Plato – that stuff really makes you pedantic. Though I realised, reading another of his dialogs, that my style of argument takes a lot from his reports of Socrates arguments. Anyway, todays adventures werent as exciting as some of the previous ones….I failed to find a post office and […]
That CD was something of a disappointment, it contained mainly recordings of the interviews in the magazine, which is about as much use to me as the squiggles in the magazine itself. Oh well, I:m going to try to find another magazine with free disk tomorrow. I will find out about the music scene here, […]
Some more adventures in wonderland…
First day at work today… there was something disturbing about turning up at the reception desk and everyone going “Oh, you’re Neil”. Oh well, it seems they were expecting me at least. Loads of boring work-y stuff, which I can:t really go into…seems they need someone like me though. They:re earlier in their project than […]
I seem to have survived the subway system. Its not as complicated as it was made out to be – theres enough romaji around for my poor little brain to deal with navigation without having to interpret too many squiggles. The system seems quite efficient, the ticket barriers are a little disconcerting, they appear open […]
Maybe thinking the jetlag was over was a little ambitious, I:ve just woken up after falling asleep at 3pm. I went for a wander around this morning, it seems this district is something like our very own Docklands, with a similar set of over grandised office/coffee shop atria. I:ve found a couple of MacDonalds within […]
Woah, so much to write about…
I am just a new boy…stranger in this town
I`ve arrived in Tokyo, largely without incident (bar the usual packing crises). The hotel has a Yahoo! webcafe, where I`m now sitting looking out over the tokyo skyline and drinking bad coffee. Still, its better than no access at all. More details later once I`ve found my barings and had some food.
