A digital misfit

Its seems my Britishness might be in doubt…I strongly disagree with the ‘correct’ answer to this question:

“Life in the UK says to be British means you should…
A: “Respect laws, the elected political structures, traditional values of mutual tolerance and respect for rights and mutual concern.”
B: “Share in the history and culture of an island nation with a character moulded by many different peoples over more than two thousand years.”
C: “be part of a modern European democracy, one with a tradition of sharing our ways with the world – and allowing the world to bring its ways to us.”

The answer was A”

I have had *no* respect for the elected political structures for a long time and, if current trends continue, I’ll be venturing into significantly negative levels of respect.

…I got six right out of 14, but only through a couple of lucky guesses, I’ll be expecting the boys around to make sure I’m off somewhere where they don’t demand that their residents have respect for their political structures.

  1. I was quite surprised when I got this one right. In the end I applied the New Labour version of Occam’s razor – the one which was most waffly without really saying anything (“island nation” is a definite New Labour no-no, and “modern European democrary” is something they would be too scared to say regardless of whether they believe it).
