Welcome to Chiba.
This would be considered an unconventional car park back home. They’re quite common here though, especially in heavily built up areas. I’ve no idea what actually happens inside, though. You drive your car onto a cradle by the entrance, then the door closes and it disappears into the column somehow. Anyone know what happens inside? Some are standalone, like this one, but there are loads built in to office and shop buildings too. They often have turntables outside to spin your car around so you don’t have to reverse onto the road. It is important to know the measurements of your car – I assume some of these cradles are larger than others – all the carparks have an indication of the maximum size car they’ll take, not just the columnar ones.
More Chiba sprawl.
The urban transport system. I’ve not had a go on this system yet, but will be heading back to Chiba sometime to try it out.
Someone got the design drawings mixed up…
