Quoting
“Capricorn:
Are you in the market for a lover who’s ultra responsible, In Charge, and Right On Top Of Things? In other words, a workaholic who takes their organizer, cell-phone, and portable fax machine everywhere, and wears a pin-striped suit everywhere (even hiking), just in case an important new contact comes along? Well, sign right here. Your Capricorn lover will never go off duty — never. In between bites of dinner, they’ll sell off their BioTech holdings, fire the entire art department, and phone their secretary to tell them to phone the cleaners to make sure their shirts are ready to be picked up next Thursday at 5:30. Conversation? Oh, with you, you mean? Why? Is there something you need to say? Laughter? Why? Is there nothing serious to talk about?”

Good grief won’t you look on the dancefloor, shes got to be American shes not from here
Today was a work Christmas party (I think theres supposed to be another one later). I’m not keen on these corporate celebratory events at the best of times but when you’ve got a Japanese guy telling jokes in English about the Finns…well, lets just say I didn’t stay all evening.
Still, I did get to pop in to Tower on the way home and pick up an ’80s classics covered by JPunk bands’ CD, a Specials tribute and CD of Green Day covers.
Walking back from there I saw someone trying to bump start a moped, or maybe they were just towing it, I don’t know. Surely this isn’t a particularly safe thing to do?
I am no longer an artist, I have become a work of art
My mp3 player has twice this week played “Welcome to the pleasuredome” just as I’m arriving at work. Can I download a different sense of humour to it, I don’t like this one.
Its a good day over at the Register today – Segway into little girl
“Toddler Ruby Bleskacek was punished by a Segway rider in a hit-and-run accident on Tuesday. (No, we are not making this up.)”
Its politcal corerctness gone mad, I tell you.
“The computing world’s venerable master/slave naming convention has come under fire by Los Angeles county officials who charge that this type of product description is offensive.”
I presume the offense here is in the use of the word ‘slave’, referring to a device (not person) that is entirely controlled by the ‘master’ device. Surely this is correct usage?
Or are we not even allowed to mention the word ‘slave’ any more? Doesn’t that deny history? We cannot divorce ourselves from our history. We should be happy that we have moved on from that time. More, we should be looking around for the things we’re doing now that our children will see as we see the slavetrade.

Inspired by Iain Sinclairs “London Orbital” I today set off to walk the Meiji-dori. I got as far as Ikebukero before being distracted by shops, not bad going I think. On the way I discovered a tram system (which warants further investigation) and some incredible road mending machines (which, frankly speaking, scare me). Next time I’ll make notes.
Then, all I need to do is something extreme…
Its good to be back on a real keyboard, with little letters and everything. There was only minor further excitment on todays excursion – I found a second hand record shop. At first I was a little concerned that it might actually be a second hand porn shop, since all the things in the display cases on the walls were album covers of cute young japanese girls taken in soft focus. But a quick peruse through the 300Yen rack revealed it was, in fact, a record shop (the concept of what 300Yen second hand jporn was like had not, at the time, occured to me).
Working through the CDs I realised the only ones I could pick out from the spines were the imports – thats not what I’m here for. In my quest for compilations I tripped over a box of laserdiscs, theres loads of them starting at something like 500Yen (for Madonna, obviously more for anything good). If anyones got a laserdisc player and would like some media let me know – no guarantees about what you’ll get but theres plenty of random stuff available, and, by looks of things, this is where the porn is too…
At last, found it, the compilations section, its full of Deep Purple live albums and German classical music, but lurking in the corner is Boogie with the Wizard – Tribute to Marc Bolan. JGlam!
