North of Forum Nacka is Nacka Strand, the start of the city lights on the boat back from Vaxholm. From the boat this looks like a fantastic futuristic part of the city, with new offices nestled amongst old, now converted, warehouses. That impression is somewhat deceptive, the hillside the area is built upon gives it a much greater impression […]

Lillängen
I took the train toward Saltsjöbaden, but got off at Lillängen, about half way along the line.
Gnesta
On my way back from Aspa and Runtuna I stopped at the small town of Gnesta, this is a small town at the periphery of the SL Stockholm commuter rail system. It reminded me, in some ways, of Fort William, though it is half the size.
Edsviken lakeside
Walking back from Ulriksdal Slott along the lakeside of Lake Edsviken (Swedish).
Inverness
I took the bus to Mörby station, which was interesting more for the narrow gauge railway that runs through it than anything else. So I walked back toward town through Inverness.

Some pictures from 1950s (in Swedish, but theres quite a nice collection of pictures on most of […]
Another walk around Gamla Stan
We took another walk around the back streets of Gamla Stan.
Långholmen
Over the bridge toward Södermalm from Marieberg is the park-island of Långholmen.
Vaxholm
I got off the boat to Vaxholm to explore while I awaited the next return boat back to the city centre. The town itself is a small town of around 5000 people, sometimes considered the capital of the archipelago. It is not a large town, though it does have an impressive castle, standing protecting the waterway connecting Stockholm to the […]
Boat to Vaxholm
Stockholm is a city built of islands – I had intended to explore them before, but had missed the boat. So I got up especially early for a trip to the archipelago. The boat ride is beautiful, taking just over an hour to get to Vaxholm, stopping at a number of islands on the way, but only the […]
