A digital misfit

job

What should my new company be called? Candidates so far are: Florescent Ltd S&M Telecoms Ltd Spacelinks Aviation Ltd Cybergenic Engineering Ltd I think I like Florescent best of those…

The fuses have been lit…

Well, all the paperwork has gone off for the work permit application… it’ll take about two weeks, maybe three, once it gets to Japan. Then I get something I need to take to the embassy in London. And then its all systems go.

Sayonara

I’m moving to Japan. It’s time to explain some of the cryptic comments and allusions I’ve been making here over the past few days… On the Monday morning (after the verbal redundancy notice on Friday) I had a phone interview with Nokia in Tokyo. By 10am that morning I’d received a job offer. This is […]

Looks like things are coming together for the next chapter…only got some paperwork to sort out now…more details soon, when I’m less tired and more capable of thinking and typing…

What about Sendo? They’re a handset manufacturer in Birmingham. They’re also rather confused, getting me to a face-to-face interview under false pretenses – the position was actually a UI position, not a core system position. Perhaps they’re not my kind of company after all. They seemed desperate to get people without really having a plan of what they were going to […]

The fortune cookie

During the run up to the end I received a call from a guy I used to work with. He was wondering if I knew anyone with EPOC skills who could help out on a large project….so we arranged to meet up. The meeting was a little more interview and a little less meeting an […]

The end

Sooner or later the will to continue the project left the company… we were all given notice of redundancy sometime around 16th April. Hurrah! Of course this leaves the project team slightly demotivated, and questions about the future viability of the project abound. There is a potential way out, but the talks to make that […]

The begining of the end

(corporate stuff… don’t get too hung up on this – theres a happy ending, well a new chapter at least) Out of the frying pan, into the fire… I knew it was doomed three days in when I asked a question about repeat sales. Never-the-less I stuck with it ‘cos I figured I could learn […]
