This Book is Full of Spiders by Jason Pargin is the sequel to John Dies at the End.
This book continues the story of John and David, when their ‘Undisclosed’ home town gets overrun by spiders and, probably, paranoia about spiders.
The breathless insanity of the earlier book gives way to more considered writing, for a good portion of the book at least, toward the end the pace picks up along with the madness.
The residual effects of the earlier use of soy sauce give our protagonist super spider powers, which in turn gives him unwarranted confidence in his own safety.
Unquestionably the hero of the story is Molly, the dog.
